Geneva Switzerland College Offers International Undergraduate and Masters Degrees
Preparatory Program is Available for New Students
New students enrolling in any undergraduate or international Masters degree program at UBIS are given placement tests. If a student shows a lack of proficiency on the tests, he or she will be placed in a non-credit Preparatory Program for one term.
UBIS has 12 starting dates per year. Undergraduate courses are available in both 4 and 8 week format, and graduate courses are offered 8 week format. UBIS has undergraduate classes starting in every month except December and there are two starting dates in August. Graduate classes begin every other month of the year starting in January.
The Preparatory Program covers English, mathematics and critical thinking. The classes cover ten hours per week. On occasion, some students who test well on some placement tests, but not on others, will be required to take only the preparatory classes where they have the deficiency. All students who test below the required TOEEFL 213 score for English proficiency will be enrolled in an intensive English as a Second Language (ESL) program for fifteen hours a week to bring the students’ English skills up to standard. Even though UBIS is a business school in Switzerland, all course materials are written in English and English is still the primary language.
The Preparatory Program is designed to ensure that all students in UBIS’s undergraduate and International masters programs have the skills they need to succeed in higher education courses. As an International Business school, UBIS maintains high standards for education and excellence in academics. Students must be proficient in certain basics before they can go on to their focus classes within the degree schedule they have chosen. Requiring all students who do not test well on the placement exams to attend all or part of the Preparatory Program, insures that students will have the academic background to understand and meet the needs of the instructor and course materials.
In addition to the Preparatory Program, all undergraduate programs include some general education courses in order to provide students with a basic, broad educational background to serve as a framework for their specialized programs.
